Activities with Your School-Ager Your school-agers interests will change as she grows. Finding things that you like to do together makes quality time fun for all. Ages 6-9: 1. Share a story hour. Take turns reading a good book aloud to each other. 2. Put on some music and dance. Young school-agers love to move to the music–and its fun for you too. 3. Cook together. Whether youre making cookies or baking bread, time together in the kitchen nurtures you both. Ages 10-12: 1. Exercise together. Youll set a good example for your child and stay fit yourself when you take walks, ride bikes or swim together. 2. Learn something new together. Find something youd both like to know more about, or a new skill youd like to learn. Take a class or read a book together. 3. Write letters to each other.
