We employed an attentional blink task in which subjectsoftenfailtoconsciouslyregisterthesecondoftwotargetsembeddedinarapidserialvisualpresentationstreamof distractors, and examined how target errors influence performance on subsequent trials. Performance was inferior after Target2errorsandtheseinter-trialeffectswereindependentofthetemporallagbetweenthetargetsandwerenotdueto moreglobalchangesinattentionacrossrunsoftrials.Theseresultsshedlightonthenatureofattentionalcalibrationin responsetofailuresofperceptualconsciousness.
