RUSSIAN VOCABULARY B.T. Chumakov Joanne Chumakov INTRODUCTION This Russian-English vocabulary was developed for beginning students of the Russian language, as well as for those of Russian background whose command of the language is lacking. It is not to be construed as a dictionary, but rather as a glossary of common words. It is classified by very broad categories, within which are arranged relevant sub-categories. Each word is listed in the first column in Russian cyrillic, in the second column in English transliteration with attention to pronunciation and accentuation, and in the third column the English equivalent is given. Our thanks go to Michael Chumakov for originally formatting the vocabulary for online use, and for his invaluable assistance and suggestions in its preparation. Errors and omissions are of course the responsibility of the compilers, and will be revised and edited by periodic updating. B.T. Chumakov Joanne Chumakov TABLE OF CONTENTS 1. RUSSIA p. 1-4 4.
