RBS RECOVERY Procedures Introduction: This document should be used by each market and after that the market has been launched. The document describes how to create a SW backup for RBS, and how to recover the RBS after a disaster situation. The SW backup will be loaded on an external HD .The HD should be very well marked and submitted to the Manger of the Switch. The Hard Drive must be kept inside the Switch and never taken outside. It is important to mention that the purpose behind this document is a precautionary measure each market should take. The SW backup should be performed once for every software releases. Prerequisites The following prerequisites are mandatory prior to making a disaster recovery backup: A PC External HD Proper Ethernet and Serial Interface connection cables FTP tool e.g. Total Commander or any other reliable FTP tool Copying the /d and /c disks RBS will have /d and /c disk. To secure the disaster recovery backup, both drives must be copied to the external HD. Connecting the External HD to a PC using the USB cable and Create a new folder for each software releases. Using an FTP tool, connect to an RBS, find the /d and /c of the RBS to be back up, mark both of the /d and /c and copy them both to the External HD in the right software release folder that was created. Note: Some FTP tools generate text files of their own, try to avoid or remove from the copied /d and /c disk, or at least try to not let them be transferred into the nodes during the recovery processes. Tech will then copy the software backup to their laptop and take it to the field. (NOTE: ? symbol means blank space, ? means press “enter” key) Flash card preparation: Power on Node-B with new flash card in CBU Force the RBS into BACKUP mode using the commands in the serial window below, $ reload▲- -? Now format the RBS hard disks using the following commands, responding with Y? when prompted to continue. Note: All data on the hard disk will be destroyed.
