----------- Pride and Prejudice ;Pride and Prejudice;;A brief introduction to the author;Jane Austen (16 December 1775 – 18 July 1817) was an English novelist .She was born in a mid-class family and was brought up in a comfortable environment with harmonious surroundings. She was the youngest of seven children. She received her education—scanty (adj.不足的;缺乏的) enough, by modern standards—at home. Besides the usual elementary subjects, she learned French and some Italian, sang a little, and became an expert needle-woman.
;??? But quiet and uneventful (adj.平静无事的)though her life was, it yet supplied her with material for half a dozen novels as perfect of their kind as any in the language. While still a young girl she had experimented with various styles of writing, and when she completed Pride and Prejudice at the age of twenty-two, it was clear that she had found her appropriate form. ;Part of Austen’s works;Her realism, biting (adj.辛辣的) social commentary and masterful (adj.熟练的) use of free indirect speech, burlesque (adj.滑稽的) and irony have earned her a place as one of the most widely read and most beloved writers in English literature.;The most popular among the Austen‘s volumes is Pride and Prejudice that takes the theme of love and marriage in a mildly humorous way of expression. As a female writer, she shows different attitudes toward marriage by depicting (vt.描绘) several young women of different descent (n.血统), economic position and horizon of knowledge. A simple theme introduces a great deal of what is about life. ;The whole book teems (vt.充满) with authoress’ wit and insight . And this inclination (n.倾向,爱好) and intention cannot escape from the reach of her living circle and reveal some of her points about worldly life.
