On choosing careers On choosing a career, parents generally believe that it is their responsibility to choose careers for their children. They claim that they know their children well enough to decide what kind of jobs for them. Holding that their children are too young to understand the society and life, many parents insist that their children should obey them absolutely. But many children suggest that they should be left free to choose their own careers. For one thing, parents and children may not share the same interest. A job that appeals to parents is likely to be boring for their children. For another, children have grown up in a different social environment where independence and self reliance are highly valued. They should be allowed to cultivate these spirits by making their own decisions. In this case, I think mutual understanding is important. On the one hand, it is natural for parents to take care of their children. But on the other hand it is the children who will take the job. Therefore, their ideas should be the top concern. It is more advisable that the children take into consideration the suggestion of their parents when they make their own decision. My View on Keeping Pets Apart from providing companionship, pets invite us to love and be loved. Often a cat or dog can comfort us at time when human words dont help. Animals are naturally playful and their antics (滑稽的动作) are fun to watch. Having a pet that requires daily exercise gets the person out into the fresh air and sunshine, too. Animals also are great ice-breakers. They encourage conversation and invite other pet owners to share stories. Learning to care for a pet helps a child to grow up into a loving adult who feels responsible towards those dependent on him.
