He was born in a Scholarly family in decline, which was quite poor. He was very smart and diligent since childhood, and he enjoyed the ancient mythology and folklore. As a great scholar, he was quite intolerable with dark officialdom and resigned soon. Brief Introduction of the Story It is a story about a Buddhist monk and bunch of animals with human characteristic. The animals actually in the story are a very fairy tale type of mood and they traveled west to India to find Buddhist scriptures. The animals themselves are celestial being in mortal forms and they have magical powers that protect them from the goblins（妖精） and the evil spirits. Brief Introduction of the Story They encountered many untold hardships and incredible dangers along the way. Xuanzang is always captured and have his life threatened while his disciples try to find an ingenious (but often violent) way to liberate him, finally after 81 difficulties they got the true scriptures.
