Abstract：TheTibetanPlateau isamajorregionofearthquakeactivityinChina．Fivemajorearthquakes
occurredintheTibetanPlateauduringthelastdecade．Theyarethe1997ManiearthquakeofmagnitudeMs
7．5inXizang，the2001KunlunMountainsearthquakeofmagnitudeMs8．1inQinghai，the2008Yutian
earthquakeofmagnitudeMs7．3inXingiiang，the2008WenehuanearthquakeofmagnitudeMs8．0inSichuan，
andthe2010YushuearthquakeofmagnitudeMs7．1inQinghai．Allofthem occurredaroundtheboundaries
oftheBayankalafault-blockoftheTibetanfault-blockregionandrepresentedmostrecentactivityoftheblock．
Earthquakesoccurredonthenorthernandsouthernboundariesoftheblockarestrike-slipfaultingevents．The
W enchuanearthquakeonitseasternboundaryisareversefaultingevent,TheYutianearthquakeonthewest
ernboundaryisanormalfaultingeven,t Thekinematicsoftheseeventssuggestthesoutheastwardmovement
oftheBayankalafault-block． MajorregionalseismicityintheTibetanfault-blockregionandtheBayankala
fault-blockhasshownthemulti—periodactivitiesandmigrationfrom oneregiontonaothersince1900．Mostof
strongearthquakesoccurredalongthenorthernboundaryoftheTibetanfault-blockregionintheearlyperiod
ofthelastcentury，tookplacemostlyalongthesouthernboundaryoftheregioninthemiddleperiodofthelast
century，andwerelocatedaroundtheBayankalafault-blockduringthelastdecade
