The present paper deals with the history of its study ，the background of its unearthing ，its associa- tion with other objects and the area and date of its prevalence ，and studies its origination and development ，as well as the ethnic mi- gration it reflects. On this basis the author points out that the westward spread of the Yi-style gui in the late Shang and early Zhou may have been concerned with the westward migration of the Dongyi Ethnic Group represented by the Qin people.
