One is institutions direct influence on average starting salary in different institutions, and the other is institutions indirect effect through adjusting the marginal effect of individual attributes (gender, major, employment, etc.). Results show that about 12% of the total difference of individual starting salary can be attributed to institutional factors (college type, selectivity, etc.), and that college types exert varying effects on marginal impacts of individual attributes.
