From our current circumstances and development prospects, shortage of water resources has severely restricted our country social and economic sustainable development. Yet price is an indicator of scarce resources, simultaneously the adjusting lever to allocate scarce resources optimally. In recent years, the sound of rise on water price throughout the country appears continuously, scientific and reasonable water price can not only promote the optimal allocation of scarce resources, but also protect the interests of government, people and related businesses .This paper is based on summarizing up numerous scholars’ research fruition at home and abroad, from the angle of regulation of water price to bring out the impact on demand for urban resident life water, on this condition of feasible model. We make a empirical analysis from panel data of country thirteen provincial capital cities between 2002 and 2007 according to varying - coefficient models, study the elasticity of each citys water divided into the different area and obtain the function of water price rising can significantly reduce the demand for urban resident life water used. In general terms, influence on demand for resident life water from water price adjustment in southern cities is much greater than in northern cities. Also, we make the measure analysis of this influence upon residents water demand from price rise. Finally, on the base of theories and models research, we propose workable policy recommendations in response to these
