W ith the isolation system and superstructure represented by Bouc-W en and degrading Bouc-W en hysteretic model, respectively, the random response of the isolated struc- ture is analyzed by pseudo-excitation method. U sing double parameters of ultmi ate story drift and hysteretic energy, function equation is established, and failure probab ility is obtained based on FORM. A 7-story isolated RC frame is used as numerical example, and the effect of low-frequency filter, isolation damp ing ratio and stiffness on the sys- tem failure probability is d iscussed. A range of optmi um stiffness and damping ratio is suggested based on vector m inmi ization of failure probab ility of both super structure and isolation system.
