THIS COUPLING IS OF A SPECIAL DESIGN TO ELEMENT THE SPECIAL HARMONIC VIBRATION THAT ARE PRODUCED EXCLUSIVE BY ROTARY SCREW AIR COMPRESSORS. THE COUPLING ASSEMBLY CONSIST OF TWO COUPLING HALVES BOLTED TO STEEL DRIVE HUBS THAT ATTACH TO THE DRIVE MOTOR SHAFT AND THE COMPRESSOR INPUT SHAFT. ON NEW QSI 1000’S,1250’S AND 1500’S THE COUPLING MUST BE ALIGNED PRIOR TO THE COMPRESSOR GOING INTO SERVICE. THE QSI 245,370,500 AND 750 HAVE A PERMANENT TRANSITION PIECE BETWEEN THE DRIVE MOTOR AND THE INLET HOUSING ON THE BASIC AIREND THAT ELIMINATE THE NEED FOR A COUPLING ALIGNMENT. ON QSI 1000,1250 AND 1500’S THE COUPLING ALIGNMENT SHOULD BE RECHECKED ONCE A YEAR OR ANY TIME THAT THE COMPRESSOR IS MOVED. MARK COUPLING HALVES HERE PRIOR TO REMOVAL NOTE: ANY TIME A COUPLING HALF IS REMOVED IT MUST BE MARKED PRIOR TO THE REMOVAL TO ASSURE THE COUPLING IS REINSTALLED IN THE EXACT SAME POSITION AND THAT THE COUPLING HALVES MATCH. COMPRESSOR SHAFT SEALS QSI COMPRESSORS USE A TRIPLE LIP SHAFT SEAL WITH REPLACEABLE WEAR SLEEVE AND SCAVENGE CAVITY. THE SHAFT SEAL CONSIST OF A WEAR SLEEVE THAT IS PRESSED ONTO THE DRIVE ROTOR SHAFT BEFORE THE DRIVE ROTOR SUCTION BEARING. THIS SLEEVE IS INSTALLED BY HEATING THE SLEEVE AND DRIVING IT ONTO THE PRE-COOLED SHAFT TO OBTAIN A NEGATIVE PRESS FIT. A THIN FILM OF LOCK TITE IS APPLIED TO THE INNER PART OF THE WEAR SLEEVE PRIOR TO BEING
