Optimizing management of critical values of clinical laboratory with information technology ***** Summary Since 2002, our country began to establish clinical critical value system, quality management certification system and clinical laboratory accreditation. Patient safety goals and the hospital management evaluation guideline in 2008 promulgated to make the critical value reporting system step by step towards the legalization. Our test critical value management system was set up in 2004, critical values were reported by telephone. Sometimes there was delay or omission on reporting critical values. A few of staff delayed diagnosis and treatment. The phenomena buried hidden troubles to the medical management needed to be improved. At present, doctor-patient relationship is intense, medical disputes take place frequently in China. Optimizing the critical value management helps to reduce medical disputes, improve the medical quality and medical safety and hospital management level. Establishment and operation of laboratory critical values of early warning and control system in Gongli Hospital has been finished. The scientific selection of early warning project, building the information platform, the establishment of clinical feedback mechanism and other measures optimize the system process. Its running effect is analyzed and evaluated combined with the actual situation of the hospital. It is pointed out that the early warning and control system is close to the clinical practice, shorten the turnaround time of test results, reduce the medical risk effectively, and improve the medical quality and management level. To sum up, optimizing the management of critical value of the clinical laboratory using informatization technology further ensures the critical value processing timeliness, simplify the reporting process, improve work efficiency, ensure the safety of patients, improve medical services and medical security.
