两段式厌氧固定床反应器英文部分
Treatment of Wastewater Containing Chloroguaiacols Using Two-stage Anaerobic Fixed Bed Reactor
Abstract: Anaerobic treatment of wastewater containing chloroguaiacols was studied with focus on the removal of chlorinated guaiacols. Experiments were carried out using a laboratory-scale anaerobic fixed bed reactor operated at different hydraulic retention times(HRTs).The process efficiently removed four types of chlorinated guaiacols when the HRT was 24 h. In this condition, all chlorinated guaiacols were almost completely removed. The microbial community structure in the reactor was not changed significantly during operating period.
Key words: anaerobic treatment; chloroguaiacols; fixed bed reactor
Introduction
Traditionally, the concern over discharges from the pulp and paper industry has been focused on the risk of fiber depositions and oxygen deficiency. In recent years, however, interest has shifted towards the environmental impact of chlorinated organic compounds in the effluents, resulting from pulp bleaching with chlorine-containing chemicals. Many chlorinated organic compounds of low molecular mass are known to be toxic, bioaccumulable, mutagenic and persistent and it is therefore important to avoid releasing such compounds in to the environment.
Conventional aerobic biological treatment employing aerated lagoons and activated sludge processes is commonly used at pulp and paper mills to remove biochemical oxygen demand(BOD) from the effluents. These treatment methods remove also a significant part of absorbable organic halogens(AOX);the AOX removal ranging from 20% to 60% has been reported. However, aerobic treatment generally has a poor effect on polychlorinated compounds. Under aerobic conditions, chlorinated guaiacols and phenols can be O-methylated to the corresponding anisoles and veratroles, which are more resistant to biodegradation and have higher potential for bioaccumulation in fish. And many volatile chloro-organic compounds, such as chloroform, are
