Abstract Phaeodacytlum tricornutum isoneoftheimportantmarinediatomsforoceanicprimaryproduction．Itsreproduction
hasprofoundsignificanceinthelifecycle；however,thenuclearbehaviorduringitssexualreproductionwasnotclear．Inhtisstudy,
weobservedthenucleartransitionanddetermineditscorrelationwithcellconjunction．Itwasofundthattwocellsiointedattheir
apicesfirstandswungandalignedeachotherimmediately．andnucleusfrom onecellwasabletotransferintoanotheroneduring
eellconjugation．Theeel1pairsconjugatedofrnucleartransitionwerediffe：rentfrom thosefomr edinmitosisinhypovalvethick-
nessandcellulararrangement．OurfindingsprovedtheexistenceofsexualreproductioninP tricornutum．
