Since the turbo code was proposed,turbo code has been applied in the third generation mobile communicaton system successfully. Error correction performance of Turbo code is better than the convolutional encoding.Because turbo code’s decoding is high complexity and coding delay is long ,it is fit for delay low-speed data services. This paper describes the background of Turbo codes, and its the areas of current researching and applications. I learn the principle of the structure of the Turbo Encoder and decoder. In wireless communication systems, radio channel characteristics of the signal transmission is very large. This article describes the characteristics of the wireless channel, the channel fading causes and CDMA2000 air interface physical channel. There is a breakthrough technology in the field of the channel error correction coding. Not only Turbo code reflects excellent performance in the field of channel coding, especially the idea of iterative decoding based on the basic idea of Turbo codes, but also Turbo codes and other technologies can provide better performance in the entire system.This article also describes the application of Turbo codes in cdma2000 simulation, and makes performance analysis, and discibe what the problem should be noted when people design the Turbo.
