Lincolns Birthday 02/12 On Lincolns birthday , people will hold speeches , publish articles to commemorate Lincoln. Lots of people will go to the Lincoln Memorial Hall. Valentines Day 02/14 In the United States, St. Valentines Day is not just young peoples holiday. Relatives and friends can send each other small gifts to express the feelings of friendship. Many stores sell presents such as heart-shaped chocolate, or red roses. Washingtons Birthday The third Monday in February Its a national holiday and its celebrated in every state. On this day, Americans like to eat cherry pies, play paper small axe. Do you know why? Memorial Day Last Monday in May. It is a federal holiday. It is the first major holiday in the year after New Year’s Day. In many northern states, swimming pools open on Memorial(纪念碑) Day. (Before that, it is too cold to swim.) Memorial Day commemorates Americans who fought for the country and died in wars. Independence Day July 4th. It is a federal holiday. The USA declared its independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776. It is a very important day in the history of the U.S. There are grand fireworks displays in many places this night. These fireworks(烟火) are very beautiful. Several other activities take place this day, like parades, community/family picnics, parties, or softball (垒球)games. *
