More than 100 persons d ied or disappeared and huge los ses took place in these d isasters. Combining meteorological data of the debris flow region, the resu lts show that the debris flow s occurredmostly together w ith rainstorms. Analyzing the rainfall data over the years, it can be found that the rainfalls in the month, in wh ich debris flow occurred, w ere h igher than that over the years. The critical rainfall triggering of the debris flow s is d iscussed. The findingsm ay be helpfu l to understand the processes of debris flow s in these regions, and may also give som e references to decisionmak ing of debris flow prevention and forecast in the future.
