The breeding area was 13,000 hectare in the middle of 1990s, rice hybrid seeds were self-supporting. But in recent years, the area has gradually lagged behind Jiangsu, Sichuan and Hunan due to the rising cost of seed production and the transfer of rural labor force which resulted in employment stress. Therefore, the rice hybrid seeds mainly depended on importing from other provinces. At present,?the method of transplanting of parents is manual in most rice breeding areas. It is of highly cost, small area, low scale,?poor quality and high risk. In some?areas, the cost of manual transplanting accounted for?20% of the entire?cost of seed production; the main factor determining seed production is?whether the flowering time of parents meet together,? but the?low efficiency of?manual transplanting,?the completion time?of seedling transplanting?affected by the weather,?artificial?number and?the extent of proficiency which are difficult to determine and predict. Hence, it is extremely urgent to study and explore?the simplified and cost effective seed production technology,? especially to solve problems such as the lack of labor, low efficiency,? small area and poor quality et al.?In this paper, the direct seeding technology of high yield seed production in spring with new variety- Liangyou 76 has been studied in two years, some consensus have been formed and gradually spread, eventually established a set of perfect direct-seeding seed production system.
