Without preceding project references and prescriptive requirements under the Codes of Practice for Minimum Fire Service Installations and Equipment and Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of Installations and Equipment (FSI Code), the Fire Services Department (FSD) in collaboration with railway corporations and other government departments, since then started to draw up fire safety requirements for railway infrastructures. Owing to the unique and complex design nature of railway stations and their associated premises, performance-based fire safety designs have been widely adopted in the planning of railway projects.
