The lymph nodes of neck can be divided into two groups : Anterior cervical lymph nodes Lateral cervical lymph nodes The major portion of lymph form these regions drains into lumbar trunk except unpaired organs in the abdominal cavity which empty into the mesenteric trunk.these trunks finally join to form thoracic duct at the level of 1st lumbar vertebrae. The lymphatic vessel of the lower extremity is composed of superficial group and deep group. Superficial lymph vessels run along the superficial vein, receive the lymph from skin and subcutaneous fascia. Deep lymph vessels accompany the deep blood vessels ,receive the lymph from muscle ,tendons , bones and joint. Then empty into regional lymph nodes respectively. The lymph of lateral border of the foot ,and posterior part of leg is drained by popliteal nodes, which located in popliteal fossa, the efferent vessels of these nodes runs above along the popliteal vein and femoral vein ,empty into the deep inguinal nodes. The superficial inguinal lymph nodes located below the inguinal ligament ,receive the lymph from Lower portion of the abdominal wall ,external genitalia ,gluteal region, perineum, and major portion of the lower extremity. It’s efferent vessels empty into deep inguinal nodes. The deep inguinal lymph nodes located at the root of the femoral vein .it’s efferent vessels empty into external iliac lymph nodes. Inguinal lymph nodes Superficial inguinal lymph nodes Deep inguinal lymph nodes Along the internal iliac artery , near the pelvic organs ,there are paravisceral lymph nodes, receive the lymph from those organs ,and empty into the internal iliac lymph nodes.
