T he research reveals the variat ion regu larity of sed mi ent concen tration in 1 sem id iurna l tida l cycle, 1 sem mi onth ly t idal cycle and 1 year, and its relat ionship w ith the variation o f tide. It a lso ind icates that the d iversion in m acro tidal estuaries shou ld be in accord w ith the variation regu lar ity o f tide, and contro lling the div ision during h igh sed mi ent concentration periods is the key to reduce the deposition in streamw ay, and accord ing to wh ich the comm on princ ip le that m u st be fo llowed by d iversion are developed.
