I did not work again for twent y years until Mr Mand ela and the ANC came to power in 1994. All that time my wife and children had t o b eg for food and help from relatives or friends. Luckily Mr Mand ela remembered me and gave me a job t aking tourists around my old prison on Robb en Island. I felt bad th e first time I talk ed to a group. All th e t error and fear of that t ime came b ack to me. I rememb ered the beat ings and the cruelty of the guards and my friends who had died. I felt I would not b e able to do it, b ut my family encouraged me.
