AbstractWiththerapiddevelopmentofhigh-speedrailwaytechnologyaroundtheworld,itatendencytomeettherequirementofhighspeed,heavyload,biglengthandhigh precision.Thesurfacequalityofheavyrailisaveryimportantproblem.Therehaveappeareddifferentsurfacedefectsduringtherollingprocesslikeblacklines,cracks, rollingskinsandfoldings,whichhaveagreateffectontheproductionrhythmofheavy rail.Itstillremainsdifficulttoconfirmwhetherthecauseofthesesurfacedefectsontheheavyrailiscastingsurfacequalityproblemsorthedeformationproblemsoftheworkpieceduringtherollingprocess.Althoughtherolling experimentofartificialdefects billetcanpartlyfindthecorrespondingpositionofthedefectsfromthefinishedproducttotheoriginalbillet,itsapplicationrangeisstillverylimited.Inthispaper,acoupled thermo-mechanicalfiniteelementsimulationwascarriedonthewholerollingpassesof theU71Mnsteel60kg?m-1heavyrail.Thetiltingandpushingpasseswereachievedby turningoverandmovingtherollersrespectively.Themodeloftheworkpiecewas establishedbyextractingthemiddlecross-sectiongridandstretchingit,which eliminatedtheinfluenceofmeshdistortionandalsomakesthedatabeforeandafter inherited.By analysingthe temperaturefield,strain fieldanddisplacementfielddistributionof theworkpieceandthechangeofthepositionofthefeaturepointsandthemorphologyof themiddlesection,themetalflowruleduringtherollingprocesswasstudiedandthelocationcorrespondingrelationbetweenslabsurfacedefectsandtheseontheheavyrailproductwasestablished.Therollingexperimentofartificialdefectsbilletwascarriedouttwiceintwodifferentpositions.Theexperimentresultswerecomparedwiththesimulationones,whichshowedgoodagreement.Thepredeterminedrearchgoalwas reached.Thisresearchcanprovidegreatconveniencesandtheoreticalbasisesforthefactoryworkerstoquicklyfindthepositionofdefects,analyzethefactorsandformulaterelevantmeasures.Anditcanalsoprovidereferencestooptimizethegroovedesignoftheheavy rail.Sothe research hasgreatpracticalsignificance.Keywords:60kg?m-1 HeavyRail; GrooveRolling;FEM;MetalFlow;DefectBilletRollin
