Our entry-level Alpha emulators aim to replace much earlier systems. The benchmark system for these early Alphas was the AlphaServer 800/500 at 1000 TPS. Using this system as a baseline, the following table shows the range of early Alpha systems that our current products can replace, and the approximate CPU performance you can expect. Using virtual disk technology, actual throughput may be somewhat greater. * This charts visualizes the various Alpha systems that were manufactured over time, ranked according to their relative hardware performance. We have created several Alpha Hardware Virtualization products which relate to the Alpha products they aim to replace by refering to the type of Alpha processor that was included in the original hardware. There were in principle 4 generations: 21064 or EV4, the 21164 or EV5, the 21264 (EV6) and 21364 aka EV68. The Alpha 21064 or EV4 was the first generation Alpha processor. The systems that include this processor are identified by the 4/xxx suffix, where xxx was the MHz frequency number. E.g.
