Pressurizing the oil inside the shock absorber helps smooth the ride over rough roads. This pressure helps prevent air pockets from forming in the shock absorber oil as it passes through the small passages in the shock. Some gas-charged shock absorbers use a single tube that contains two pistons that separate the high-pressure gas from the working fluid. Single tube shocks are also called
