The on-water operation is adopted in timber storing facilities for tr旧lsferring log了 row arr甘ing by ships or by floating rafts , and for transferring bulk logs arriving by ships. As a result , the unloading of logs from ships is speeded up and the handling capacity of a harbor increased. The log transferring and storing machinery and facilities on sea or on river are introduced for timber harbors. With the advance of technology for importing logs by ships , it is suggested that timber carrier fleets be formed , the volume utilization ratio of ship s hold be raised , and the fast loading and unloading method be adopted.
