Abstract
Recently, Teaching Chinese as a foreign language (TCFL) in China is in full swing to flourish. From the eighties to the twentieth century, the importance of teaching Chinese culture in TCFL have gradually been intentioned, but the specific contents and teaching methods of culture teaching have no fixed standards, especially the teaching methods are seldom discussed .
In this paper, it divided the content of culture in TCFL into fifteen major projects
(life style, value idea, social intercourse, manners and customs, language and writing, literary work, art, science and technology, geography, religious and philosophy, political
and economy, history, important event, Chinese, other and so on.)and several small
items, which based on the division of knowledge culture and communication culture. Through the analysis of statistics of teaching materials in the cultural content in the TCFL textbooks, it is concluded that in the different stages, the focus of the culture content is different. It mainly carries on the human relations culture content in the initial stage, but the system diverse culture content in the intermediate and senior stage .And according to the different study goal, the higher stage may also act technicality literacy class teaching.
This article also discusses the strategies of teaching culture in TCFL. It summed up that the TCFL should follow the seven principles(that is usable, selects the essential , keep pace with the times ,the standard principle, proceed in an orderly way, contrast principle and teaches students in accordance with their aptitude),which based on the analysis of teaching materials. It also considered that different methods should be used in the different level of different elements. Combined with knowledge of educational theory, it classified the existing culture teaching model in TCFL.
