英文摘要  福柯话语理论视域下政治文本英译策略—— 以“2015 年扬州市政府工作报告”英译为例  ABSTRACT Globalization helps the city of Yangzhou strengthen its cooperation and exchange with foreign countries, which in turn makes people abroad want to know more about this charming city. However, the exchange cannot be achieved without translation. A good translation will help the city build its image and attract more and more foreign tourists and even investments. Therefore, the translation of local government work report is playing an important role in introducing the city’s achievements and potentials to its foreign readers. The French philosopher Michel Foucault proposed his discourse theory in his book The Archeology of knowledge and the Discourse on Language. And he was the first to put “power” and “discourse” together and he pointed out that there is no absolute literal art or humanity without manipulation. Based on Foucault’s theory, the author, from the perspective of source language and target language, attempts to explore the influence of power and discourse to the English translation of “2015 Yangzhou Municipal Government Work Report” and to find out the translation strategies for the C-E translation of political texts. The study has a great value of helping the local government aware of the significance of publishing its local government work report, and also summarizing translation strategies for the C-E translation of political documents for further study and research.
