Methods Choose 0.014 inches and 0.016 inches of two different types of Australian silk,respectively,for 1 ~5 months in mouth.After recycling,the mechanical properties and surface morphology of the samples were measured and compared with the new archwires. Results There was no significant difference in elasticity between two Australian wires of 0.014 and 0.016 inches after being used in oral cavity for up to 5 months compared with that of new silk ( 0.05).But scanning electron microscope showed that the surface of Australian silk was corroded obviously with the prolongation of time.Conclusion Australia silk can maintain good elasticity after oral use for 5 months,but
