1.21 Automotive Springs and Shock Absorbers There are two types of leaf spring，the multileaf and the single leaf. The multileaf spring is made up of a series of flat steel plates of graduated length placed one on top of another，as held together at the center by a center bolt which passes through holes in the leaves. Clips placed at intervals along the spring keep the leaves in alignment.
