河南大学 硕士学位论文 山巅之城的兴衰——殖民地时期新英格兰清教的发展历程 姓名：何晓阳 申请学位级别：硕士 专业：世界史 指导教师：王金虎中文摘要美国殖民时期在历史上被称作“奠基时代"，许多曾在美国历史上举足轻重的 中文摘要 美国殖民时期在历史上被称作“奠基时代"，许多曾在美国历史上举足轻重的 思想和群体皆发源于这段时间，新英格兰清教正是其中之一。新英格兰不仅是一 个地理名词，更是作为一个重要的文化名词存在于历史上。清教徒在成功建立殖 民地同时，形成独特的新英格兰文化。清教对于奠定新英格兰在美国历史上的重 要地位功不可没。 清教徒怀揣“山巅之城"的宗教梦想来到北美开创理想社会，他们成功创建 新英格兰社会，并在初期牢牢掌握殖民地思想统治权。但进入17世纪后半叶，随 着新时代到来，内外部压力增大，清教逐渐丧失在新英格兰的垄断。尽管清教徒 曾试图努力挽救，也取得一定成效，清教在美国独立战争前已降至与其他教派同 等地位。 本文主体分为四个部分： 第一部分，清教移民北美背景及清教社会初步建立。 第二部分，17世纪前半叶，第一代清教徒主要面对的是内部危机，但均基本 成功化解。 第三部分，17世纪后半叶开始，挑战日益严峻，内外压力不断加大，清教统 治地位终于随着英王加强殖民地管理结束。 第四部分，丧失统治地位的清教经过18世纪前半叶大觉醒运动洗礼，重新定 位自己，找到最终归宿。 关键词：清教殖民时期新英格兰 AbstractThe Abstract The colonial period of North America iS regarded as“nle Foundation Perioff’in the American history．Many important ideas and groups，including New England Puritanism,appeared in this period．New England is not only a geographical term，but also an important cultural term．Puritans succeed in creating the New England colony and an unique New England culture．In the process，Puritanism plays a very important role． Puritans rail from England to create ideal society,“a city upon a hill”．TheY created the New England society successfully and controlled colonial ideology firmly in early days．But along with the coming of new time，they lost monopoly in the second half of the seventeenth century because of the interior and exterior pressure．111ey tried their best to save the authority,but failed．Puritans’status was as same as other religion denominations prior to the Revolution． 强e artide includes four parts． First,the background of Puritans’migration and establishment of Puritan society． Second，the interior challenges and Puritans’responses in the first half of Seventeenth Century． 即：li|_d．Puritans’experience in the second half of Seventeenth Century． Fourth,Puritans’relocation after the baptism of Great Awaking in first half of Eighteenth Century． Key words：Puritanism；colonial period；New England II 关于学位论文独立完成和内容创新的声明本人向河南大学提出硕士学位中请。本
