Research and realization of new stage lighting control system Hui Ren,Kai Zhou, Zhen Li School of IE Communication University of China Beijing, China E-mail:renhui@cuc.edu.cn Abstract — Control system for stage lighting is mainly composed of lighting console, dimmer and auxiliary equipment, etc. At present, the functional design of lighting control console is mostly based on MCU and lighting dimmer uses SCR (silicon controlled rectifier to control lighting. There are lots of defects in advanced technique, information storage, expansibility and real-time performance. Besides that, the dimmer based on SCR could engender a lot of harmonics. So, the power system and equipment will be influenced. In this paper, lighting console based on DMX512 protocol using ARM chip and new sine wave lighting dimmer based on AC chopping control with IGBT are put forward. The experimental results show that this system has perfect function, strong expansibility, easily upgrade and meets the needs of the stage lighting control system. Our work has some theoretical significance and application value for the development of stage lighting control system. Keywords-light console; ARM; IGBT; DMX512 I. I NTRODUCTION With the development of national economy, prosperity of cultural performance market and application of advanced electronic technology, stage lighting control system is developing at an unprecedented rate. At present, the stage lighting control system is basically based on MCU. It uses the weak signal (console to control the high voltage signal (dimmer so as to achieve the purpose of controlling the brightness and color of lighting. But MCU is limited to computing ability, storage resource, security, advancement and expansibility. Nowadays, SCR dimmer is widely used in theatre, but there are lots of drawbacks. For example, it could engender a lot of harmonics. Though we can take some measures to reduce these effect caused by drawback, we can ’ t eliminate these influence fundamentally.
