Calendering is the process of squeezing a softened thermoplastic material between two or more rolls to form a continuous film. The process,originally adapted from the rubber industry,is a major method of producing plastic film and sheet The material generally used in the calendering from ABS, cellulosics, polyethylene, and polystyrene. An important area in the calendering of film is the ability of surface treatment, such as embossing films or enhancing the physical properties of the films by stretching. Calendering process 2 Calender Raw Material Bulk Handling & Mixing Unit For the production of film, the ingredients can include both solid and liquid raw materials. Solids are conveyed pneumatically from silos into bins; weighed in batches; and dropped into a high-speed mixer.
