In the context of TwinCAT applications using the file operation function blocks, the folders in which the associated files are processed during PLC Control run time have to be excluded from the virus scan process. This is because AV software responds to file movements and scans each modified file, which could lead to the timeout values of the PLC Control function blocks being exceeded, and hence to delays in the control process. Beckhoff Automation does not regularly allocate tests of AV software. A wide range of independent tests based on different test criteria is available for assessing the quality of individual AV software packages (for example quality of the heuristics function or response times in the event of a new virus occurring, etc.).
