Journal of Landscape Research / 景观研究 2009 ，1 （7 ）：62 －66 Responsible editor ：Xia Jing Responsible translator ：Shao Mei Study on the Functional Zoning Modes of Urban Wetland Parks LIN Xiao 1，2* ，LUAN Chun- feng 1 1．Nanjing Forestry University ，Nanjing ，Jiangsu 210018 ；2．Department of Logistics Management ；Southeast University ，Nanjing ，Jiangsu 210096 Abstract Functional zoning is a critical phase in the planning of parks ．Through summarizing and analyzing the functional zoning modes of different urban park types in China ，as well as comparing to the functional zoning modes of nature reserves ，famous scenic areas and overseas national parks ，the functional zoning modes of urban wetland parks in China were elaborated in this study ，the assumption of further sectorization were put forward ，and theoretical supports were sought for more scientific and operable functional zoning of urban wetland parks ． Key words Wetland park ；Functional zoning ；Biosphere ；Core area ；Buffer zone ；Transition area Functional zoning is a significant phase in the planning of parks，which plays a transitional role in carrying out planning thoughts ，optimizing planning projects ，guiding follow- up plan- ning and finally realizing planning objectives The． rationality of functional zoning directly influences the success of planning ． Up to now ，there is no exact definition for wetland park in China or abroad ．According to the general statements in literature da-ta，any wetland region that has the functions of protecting spe-cies and their habitats ，ecological tourism and eco- environment education can be taken into the scope of wetland park ． Parks that are studied in this paper are those being brought into urban green system planning ，have the ecological functions and typical characteristics of wetland ，and take ecological preserva-tion，popular science education ， natural fun，recreation and sightseeing as main contents ，in which nature reserves and fa-mous scenic area
