And I congratulate the aspiration of the People s Republic of China to improve the international marketing and promotion of the Chinese culture. All around the world, people are curious to get to know China better. They are not only interested in the economical and political aspects of the Asian Giant, but also its culture. The Cultural In dustries Fair in Shen zhe n is an intern ati onal platform for culture in all its many aspects -digital media are just as much at home here as print products, dance and folk art, calligraphy and literature. For the first time this year, an entire hall has been dedicated to intern ati onal exhibitors, emphasis ing the in creased importa nee China places on intern ati onal con tacts. The topic I would like to focus on today is how to market culture intern ati on ally. Because that is exactly what the Fran kfurt Book Fair has bee n doing ever since our reestablishme nt 60 years ago, after the Second World War. The title of my presentation is: ——Creating the Best International Platform for t he Chinese Book and Media Industry II . I must admit this is not a difficult task for me. Because in 2009, Chi na will be the Guest of Hon our at the Fran kfurt Book Fair, the world largest fair for content and media.
