摘要 摘要 19世纪在欧洲被称为是历史比较语言学的世纪。以艾约瑟为首的一批传教 士和汉学家将历史比较语言学的理论和方法运用于汉语研究,他们在《中国评论》 上发表了众多文章，从文字、语音、词汇和语法等方面进行汉外语言比较，探索 汉外语言之间的关系，试图证明汉语与西方语言之间有着亲缘关系，甚至验证汉 语就是原初语言。艾约瑟及其追随者为实现其神学理想，将19世纪西方盛行的 语言学思想和科学方法运用于汉语研究的做法提高了汉学研究地位的同时遭致 了很多的非议。 本文以《中国评论》为中心，考察其中关于汉语历史比较研究的文献，探讨 19世纪后期西人对汉外语言关系的认识以及西人进行汉语历史比较研究对中国 语言学的影响和启示。 关键词，《中国评论》；历史比较；语言关系；西方汉学 Abstract Abstract The 19th century is known in Europe as the century of historical comparative linguistics. Headed by Mr. Edkins, a batch of missionaries and sinologists did some Chinese studies with western historical comparative linguistics theory and methods. They published a large number of articles on uThe China Reviewn , from the aspects such as characters, phonetics, vocabulary and grammar are compared, trying to prove that Chinese and western languages are related languages, and even that Chinese is the original language. In order to realize their theological ideals, Mr. Edkins and his followers applied the linguistic ideas and scientific methods prevailing in the 19th century in the west to Chinese studies, which improved the status of Sinology and caused many criticisms. This thesis takes the literature on the study of Chinese historical comparative linguistics in “The China Review“ as the object of investigation, and explores the westerners * understanding of the relationship between Chinese and foreign languages in the late 19th century and the impact and enlightenment of westerners, historical comparative studies of Chinese on Chinese linguistics.
