Ⅰ. Introduction
The most influential writer in all of English literature, William Shakespeare, was viewed as the author of the 37 plays and 154 sonnets that bear his name. His works were translated into about 70 kind of language, which ranks only second to the Bible. He had a great influence on the course of western literature and culture.
Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, considered the greatest representative of a romantic tragedy in the world, is one of the important classic tragedies in his early creating period. The scene is laid in Verona, a city in Italy. The two chief families Capulet and Montague have been hostile to each other for a long time. Romeo, the son of Montague, fell in love with Juliet ,Capuletˊs daughter, at first sight. They were engaged secretly. Unfortunately, Romeo killed Juliet′s cousin— Tibet. The prince declared to banish Romeo from Verona. Later, the Capulet forced Juliet to marry the young Count Paris, so Juliet only pretended to death to avoid the arrangement. However, Romeo was so desperate to hear the death of Juliet that he killed himself at the side of Juliet. When Juliet saw the dead Romeo, she killed herself too. After Father Laurence told the truth, the two families agreed to bury their enmity and reconcile.
