ICEM CFD is a meshing software package that is specifically designed for use in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. When using ICEM CFD, meshing is a crucial step in the simulation process, and meshing quality can have a significant impact on the accuracy and efficiency of CFD simulations. To improve the accuracy and efficiency of ICEM CFD simulations, mesh refinement and adaptation techniques can be used to adjust the mesh according to specific criteria.Mesh refinement is a technique that involves adding more nodes or elements to areas of the mesh where higher accuracy is required, typically in areas of high turbulence, curvature or shear. This can be achieved by either local refinement, where the mesh is refined only in specific areas, or global refinement, where the entire mesh is refined uniformly. The degree of refinement can be controlled by adjusting parameters such as the number of nodes or elements, the spacing between nodes or elements, the node curvature sensitivity or the element quality.Mesh adaptation is a more advanced technique that involves adjusting the mesh based on the solution obtained in a previous iteration of the simulation. This technique uses a feedback loop where the solution obtained from a previous simulation run is used to identify areas of the mesh that require refinement or coarsening. This process can be repeated until the solution converges to a desired accuracy level. In ICEM CFD, mesh adaptation can be performed in several ways, including solution-based, error-based, and goal-based adaptation. In solution-based adaptation, the mesh is refined or coarsened based on changes in solution variables such as velocity, pressure or temperature. In error-based adaptation, the mesh is refined or coarsened based on an estimated error in the solution, typically using a residual error estimate or an a posteriori error estimator. In goal-based adaptation, the mesh is refined or coarsened based on specific goals or cons
