AbstractVirtualreality(VR)hasbeenwidelyusedinvariousmanufacturingindustries,andVR-based
virtualmanufacturinghasreceivedsignificantattentioninthecurrentintelligentmanufacturingera.Digital
humanmodels(DHMs)areessentialforvirtualmanufacturingapplications.Additionally,researchingnew
applicationsofDHMshasdevelopedintoanimportantacademicresearchfield.Thispaperaimstoidentify
theapplicationsandresearchtrendsofDHMsinthemanufacturingindustryandtoprovideareferencefor
thecontinueddevelopmentofvirtualmanufacturingandDHMs.Weselectedatotalof49relatedarticles
fromalargenumberofarticlespublishedbetween2014and2019.TheapplicationsofDHMsinthe
manufacturingindustryareanalyzedfromdifferentperspectivesandvariousrelevanttechnicallimitations
arediscussed.TheresultsindicatethattheapplicationsofDHMsdiffersignificantlybetweendifferent
typesoffields.Theautomotiveindustryisthemain
