TheLouvrelaunchedanappealonTuesdayfordonationstobuyanotherpainting,TheBasketofWildStrawberriesbyJeanSimeonChardin,the18th-centuryFrenchstilllife(静物画)master.Thework,whichwasfirstexhibitedin1761,wasinaprivatecollectionfromthe19thcenturyuntillastyear,whenitwassoldfor€24.3milliontoanAmericanartmuseumatanauctioninParis.
