Abstract
High-efficiencypower-generationwithanLNGvaporizingsystemisproposed:itutilizestheLNGscoldenergytothebestpotentiallimit.ThissystemcanbeappliedtoLNGvaporizersingascompaniesorelectricpowercompaniesandrecoverstheLNGscoldenergyaselectricpower.ThesystemconsistsofaRankinecycleusingaFreonmixture,natural-gas.Rankinecycleandacombinedcyclewithgasandsteamturbines.Theheatsourcesforthissystemarethelatentheatfromthesteam-turbinescondenserandthesensibleheatofexhaustgasfromthewaste-heatrecoveryboiler.Inordertofindouttheoptimalconditionofthesystem,severalfactors,suchasgasturbinecombustionpressure,steampressure,condensingtemperatureincombinedcycle,compositionofmixtureFreon,andnaturalgasvaporizingpressureareevaluatedbysimulation.Theresultsofthesestudiesshowthatinthetotalsystem,about400kWhcanbegeneratedbyvaporizing1tonofLNG,includingabout60kWh/LNGtonrecoveredfromtheLNGcoldenergywhensupplyingNGin3.6MPa..About8.2MWhcanbeproducedbyusing1tonofLNGasfuel,comparedwithabout7MWhbytheconventionalcombinedsystem.Anetefficiencyofover53%HHVcouldbeachievedbytheproposedsystem.InthecaseoftheLNGterminalreceiving5milliontonsofLNGperyear,thissystemcangenerate240MWandreducethepoweroftheseawaterpumpbymorethan2MW.1998ElsevierScienceLtd.Allrightsreserved.
