UpdatestotheDocumentation

DisablingWakeonLANintheOFFState

Inordertoobtainthelowestpowerconsumptionavailableonyourcomputer

whileitisintheOFFstate(S5),youmustdisabletheS5WakeonLANfeature

intheBIOSsettings.DisablingS5WakeonLANwillnotaffecttheabilityof

yourcomputertoWakeonLANfromsuspendorhibernation,butwillpreventit

fromwakingfromtheOFFstate(S5)viathenetwork.Thiswillalsonotaffect

theoperationofyournetworkconnectionwhilethecomputerispoweredon.

Ifanetworkconnectionisnotrequired,youmaychangetheBIOSsettingsto

hidethenetworkcontroller(NIC)fromtheoperatingsystem.Thisreducesthe

amountofpowerconsumedbythecomputerwhileitisrunningorintheOFF

state.Bydefault,thecomputershipswiththeS5WakeonLANfeatureenabled

andthenetworkcontrolleravailable(nothidden).

Tochangethesesettings,accessComputer(F10)Setupaccordingtothe

instructionsintheComputerSetup(F10)UtilitiesguideontheDocumentation

LibraryCD.

TodisabletheWake-on-LANfeatureduringS5,usethearrow(leftandright)

keystoselecttheAdvancedDeviceOptionsmenuandsettheS5Wake

OnLanfeaturetoDisable.Thisplacesthenetworkcontrollerinaverylow

powerstatewhileyourcomputerisoff.

Tocompletelydisablethenetworkcontroller,usethearrow(leftandright)keys

toselecttheSecurityDeviceSecuritymenuandsettheNetwork

ControlleroptiontoDeviceHidden.Thispreventsthenetworkcontrollerfrom

beingusedbytheoperatingsystemandplacesitinaverylowpowerstate.
