AfterimportingCAMdataintoaCAMdocument,youwillnoticethattheExporttoPCBoptionisgrayed-out,regardlessofthe

currentCAMEditormode(CAMorNC).Thiscommandallowsyoutoreverse-engineeraPCBlayoutdirectlyfromCAMfiles.

Thisdoesnotfollowaregularexport-importprocess,butratherloadsdatadirectlyintoAltiumDesigner’sPCBEditor.

ThefollowingsectionsdetailstepstobetakentoreverseengineeraPCBdesignfromtheCAMdata–frominitialimportintoa

CAMdocument,throughtherequiredpre-exportpreparationandultimatelyontoexportofthedesigndatatothePCBEditor.

ImportData

Thestartingpointforthewholeprocessistheloadingof

ODB++,orGerberandNCDrillfiles,intoanewCAM

document.IfyouhaveanIPCnetlist,youshouldimport

thisaswellwhenimportingGerberandNCDrilldata.

WhenimportingODB++,onlyimportanIPCfileifthe

netlistisnotintheODB++directory.TheIPCnetlistwill

allowyoutoupdatetheextractednetswiththeiroriginal

names,anddifferentiatweenthrough-holeviasand

free(non-component)pads.

TheFile»Importsubmenucommandsallsearchfor

fileswithcertainextensionswithinagivenfolder.When

importingdrillfiles,forinstance,thespecifieddirectory

willfilteroutallfileceptthosewith.DR*,.ROU,.RTE,

.NC*and.TX*extensions
