Thisstudyfocusesonrecentdebateoverthevalueofstableisotopebasedenvironmentalproxies
recordedinriverinetufa-stromatolites.Atwelve-yearrecord(1999to2012)ofriver-bedtufa
stromatolitesintheRiverPiedra(north-eastSpain)wasrecoveredinthisstudy,alongwithapartly
overlappingfifteen-yearrecord(1994to2009)ofaccumulationsinadrainagepipe:bothdeposits
formedinwaterwithnearidenticalphysico/chemicalparameters.Measuredwatertemperaturedata

andnearconstantOwatercompositionallowedselectionofan‘equilibrium’palaeotemperature
equationthatbestreplicatedactualtemperatures.Thisstudy,ashavepreviousstudies,foundthatboth
