    WhileNanniniwaswaitingforatrain,abenchontheplatformoppositecaughtherattentionduetotheever-changingfacesandcharacters.Theywerepeopleofdifferentaccents,colorsandbeliefs.Theywerefromallwalksoflife,adiversemixofNewYorkersalltherefortheirowndifferentreasons.Havinglearnedtheteenagers’popular“EndoftheLine”challenge—boardingtrainsatrandomandridingthemuntiltheirfinaldestinations,NanninidecidedtovisiteveryfirstandlaststopacrosstheNYsubway’slineswithherbelovedcamera.

    Nannini’s“EndoftheLine”experiencesawhertravelingsome665milesacross26routesinNewYorkcity.Shetookover8,000photosofthefinalstations,aswellasthecommunitiestheyserved.Inmanycases,sherodetheroutestwoorthreetimesovertoensureshegot“theshot”.“Theprojectreallyshowsmehowimportantthesubwayis,andhowsustainableitmakesourlives,”shesaid.

    “It’softensaidthatmyphotosshowtheendofthelines—thelaststops,”shesaid.“Buttheendofthelineisindeedthestartforsomanypeople.Thatmademethinkaboutwhothepeopleandthecommunitiesthatliveatthetwoendsareandwhatitisthatthesubwaymeanstothem.”Nanniniwasproudofhersetofimagesdirectlychallengingthetraditionsofstorytelling,whichechoedboththeboredomandexcitementoftravelontracks.
