Thevulnerabilitiesofglobalsupplychainshavebeenhighlightedrecentlybyeventssuchas
theCOVID-19pandemic,climatechange-inducednaturaldisasters,cybersecuritythreats,
logisticsobstacles,andgeopoliticaltensionsandconflicts.Industriesacrossthespectrum
havebeenforcedtograpplewithproductiondelays,shortages,anincreaseinprices,growing
demand,andunexpectedbottlenecks.Thishasallhighlightedthecriticalimportanceof
resilientsupplychains.
Industrialsectorsupplychains—meaningthemanufacturingstepscoveringrawmaterials
sourcingandprocessing,componentsmanufacturing,andassembly,aswellasthe
movementofthesegoods—areparticularlyexposedtosuchvulnerabilities.Thisisduetothe
