Abstract

ThispaperempiricallyassessesSaudiArabia’sindustrialexaminedatthefirmlevelalongboththeextensiveand

policyusingdataonpolicyannouncementsmatchedtointensivemargins.Ontheextensivemargin,industrial

industry-levelexportsandfirm-leveloutcomes.Itfirstpro-policiesleadtoareductioninthenumberofactivefirms

videsacomprehensiveoverviewofthecountry’sindustrialwithintheobservedsample,suggestingashiftinfirmcom-

policylandscape,documentingthescale,timing,sectoralpositionwithinindustry.Ontheintensivemargin,local

coverage,andpolicyinstrumentsassociatedwithindus-contentrequirementsleadtohigheremploymentbutlower

trialpolicyinterventions.Theanalysisthenevaluatesthecapitalinvestment,whiledomesticsubsidiescorrespondto
